What drives us to deliver our Services?
On 7 December 2009, the UN Climate Conference will open in Copenhagen, Denmark and the world community will try to agree a solution to the gravest threat it has ever faced: global warming. The Copenhagen meeting will have a far broader reach and potential impact on the world than the (1) Congress of Vienna of 1814-1815, (the assembly which attempted to reorder Europe after the Napoleonic wars); (2) the Paris peace conference of 1919, which tried to construct a new global order after the First World War; (3) the 1945 meetings at Yalta and Potsdam which tried to do the same after the Second World War. The meeting in Denmark will try to work out a way for the world to act together to preserve the thin envelope of atmosphere, soil and sea which surrounds our planet and enables us to live, in the face of rising temperatures which threaten to destroy its habitability.
What do we actually do?
SRL will not be waiting until December 2009 to start the fight against climate change. In fact, we’ve started already, focusing on one of many available ways to reduce the UK carbon footprint: the proliferation of renewable energy in the form of onshore wind power. We specialize in developing (with landowners and farmers) small clusters of large wind turbines based on the very successful models developed in Denmark, Germany and Holland over the past 25 years. Farmers and Landowners all over the UK have been attracted by our business model which relieves them of risk, provides them with very attractive annual ground rentals and provides no-strings-attached funds for local communities. The UK has the best wind resource in Europe, so SRL are convinced that onshore wind generators, fuelling the National Grid, built on British soil and rewarding local communities financially, will be one of the best contributions to forging the right way forward to a more sustainable environment.
